How to delete your connected-account data from MessageKit
When you connect a Facebook Page or Instagram account to MessageKit, we store the account name, its platform identifier, and an access token so we can publish posts on your behalf. This page explains how to have that data deleted.
Option 1: Disconnect in MessageKit
Sign in to MessageKit, open your brand's Connections pane in Settings, and press Disconnect on the account you want to remove. The access token is deleted immediately. The account name and platform identifier are kept as part of your publishing history.
Option 2: Remove MessageKit from Facebook
Go to facebook.com, then Settings & Privacy > Settings > Apps and Websites. Find MessageKit and press Remove. This revokes our access and we delete the access token automatically. If you also use Facebook's option to ask us to delete your data, we erase the account name and platform identifier as well, and Facebook gives you a confirmation code for checking the request below.
Option 3: Write to us
Send an email to legal@sparrowsoft.co with the subject "Data deletion request" and tell us which account you would like removed. We will erase the access token, the account name and the platform identifier within 30 days and email you when it is done.
What is deleted and what is kept
When you disconnect or remove MessageKit, we delete the access token right away. We keep the account name and platform identifier as a record of where your posts were published, until you ask for deletion.
When you ask for deletion, through Facebook or by email, we erase the access token, the account name and the platform identifier. Your brand's connection is marked as needing to be connected again.
Posts you published through MessageKit are your content. They are not deleted by disconnecting or by a deletion request. If you want posts removed from the platform itself, do that on the platform directly.
Your brand, your organization and everything else in your MessageKit account are not affected by disconnecting a social account.
Checking the status of a deletion request
If you submitted a deletion request through Meta or by email, you can check its status at:
https://messagekit.co/data-deletion/status?code=YOUR_CONFIRMATION_CODE
The page will tell you whether the request is complete or still being processed. If you do not have a confirmation code, or if the code is not recognized, the page will say the request is still being processed.
